Ot Network information

What are OT networks?

OT (Operational Technology) Networks are specialized communication networks used to monitor and control industrial equipment, processes, and infrastructure. These networks connect devices like sensors, controllers, and SCADA systems in industries such as manufacturing, energy, and transportation. Unlike traditional IT networks, OT networks prioritize reliability, safety, and real-time performance. Integrating OT with IT can improve efficiency but also introduces unique cybersecurity challenges that require specialized solutions.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an OT network engineer?

To thrive as an OT (Operational Technology) Network Engineer, you need a solid understanding of industrial control systems, networking protocols, cybersecurity principles, and typically a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with SCADA systems, PLC programming, network monitoring tools, and certifications like Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Network+ is highly beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help in troubleshooting complex systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams. These skills are crucial for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of critical industrial networks that support essential operations.

What are common challenges faced by professionals working in OT network roles?

Professionals in OT Network roles often face challenges related to integrating legacy systems with modern IT solutions, as many industrial control systems were not originally designed with cybersecurity or remote connectivity in mind. They must also manage strict uptime requirements, since downtime can disrupt critical operations and production. Additionally, OT Network specialists frequently collaborate with both IT and engineering teams to ensure network changes do not impact safety or reliability, requiring strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills.

What is the difference between Ot Network vs Occupational Therapist?

AspectOt NetworkOccupational Therapist
CredentialsTypically requires certification or licensing specific to Ot Network servicesRequires a master's degree in occupational therapy and state licensure
Work EnvironmentOften works in healthcare facilities, clinics, or telehealth settingsWorks in hospitals, clinics, schools, or outpatient settings
Industry UsageUsed as a platform or network connecting occupational therapy providersRefers to licensed healthcare professionals providing therapy services

Ot Network generally refers to a platform or network connecting occupational therapy providers, whereas an Occupational Therapist is a licensed healthcare professional delivering therapy services. Understanding these differences helps clarify job roles and service delivery methods within the industry.

What is an occupational therapy network?

An occupational therapy network is a professional organization or online platform that connects occupational therapists for collaboration, resource sharing, and continuing education. These networks often provide access to job postings, industry updates, and opportunities for professional development relevant to occupational therapy practitioners.

Job Summary
Join the Tyvek® team as an OT Network & Cybersecurity Engineer and help protect the technology that powers safe, reliable manufacturing. In this high-impact role, you'll work at the intersection of industrial control systems, secure network architecture, and IT/OT cybersecurity-strengthening the Process Control Network (PCN), improving resilience, and helping drive secure operations across the site.
This is an onsite position at the DuPont Spruance site. Candidates must live within a daily commutable distance to the site or be willing to relocate to the area at their own expense to be considered for this role.
What You'll Do
Network Design & Administration
  • Design, implement, and manage secure, resilient PCN architectures that support reliable site operations.
  • Administer switches, VLANs, and domain controllers with a focus on uptime, performance, and scalability.
  • Own firewall configuration, rules, and approvals to strengthen secure connectivity across the environment.
  • Support key technology migrations, including Honeywell-related work, through pre-migration audits, switch reconfiguration, and VLAN changes.

Cybersecurity Implementation
  • Shape and enforce cybersecurity practices designed for industrial control and manufacturing environments.
  • Deploy and manage firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, and endpoint protection solutions to reduce operational risk.
  • Implement port locking and access controls that prevent unauthorized devices from connecting to the PCN.
  • Represent the site in global cyber forums, including the Global Cyber Champions network and Honeywell Cyber Customer Advisory Board.

Monitoring & Incident Response
  • Continuously monitor network traffic and system performance using tools such as Dell OpenManage, ActiveXperts, and LogicMonitor.
  • Detect, analyze, and respond to anomalies, threats, or breaches.
  • Lead incident response efforts, including forensic analysis and recovery.

Risk Management & Compliance
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigations.
  • Ensure compliance with standards such as NERC CIP, ISO 27001, and corporate cybersecurity policies.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of network configurations, security policies, and compliance audits.

System Maintenance & Disaster Recovery
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and lifecycle management (LCM).
  • Manage backups and restorations for DCS and non-DCS systems.
  • Oversee WSUS patching strategy and ensure continuity of updates across servers.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Collaboration & Training
  • Partner with engineering and IT teams to integrate cybersecurity into process control infrastructure.
  • Provide training and awareness programs for employees on cybersecurity best practices.
  • Act as a technical advisor for site leadership on emerging threats and security technologies.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field-or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in OT networking, cybersecurity, industrial controls, or a similar technical role.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial control systems (ICS) and process control networks.
  • Microsoft certification or equivalent IT administration expertise (critical for domain controller management).
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, VLANs, and network monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (NERC CIP, ISO 27001, etc.).
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to advise technical and site leadership on cybersecurity priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and incident response skills.
