JOB SUMMARYย 


The Assistant/Associate Professor OMM will work with the Chair of ย Department of Primary Care and assist with planning, directing, and ย implementation of programs, policies and procedures for the Department ย to ensure the integration of scientifically based, outcome evaluated ย clinical knowledge and skills, biomedical sciences, and osteopathic ย principles and practice for predoctoral and/or postdoctoral students, ย provide service to the college and professional communities and engage ย in innovative scholarship and/or research to advance medical knowledge.ย  ย ย 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESย 

  • Establish and maintain scheduled office hours for student advising, tutoring, remediation and consultation.
  • Provide service to the College community and students through ย serving on College committees, providing leadership, mentorship and ย expertise to students, participating in community outreach events and ย with professional organizations or groups as assigned by the Dean or ย Department Chair.
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment and modification ย as a part of the college's ongoing quality improvement and assessment ย program.
  • Participate in the assessment or evaluation of and provide feedback ย to other members of the faculty as a component of the college's ongoing ย quality improvement and assessment program.
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students and ย residents, provide feedback and remedial assistance to ensure that the ย student of ACHE meet the standards established by the faculty and ย college and obtain the knowledge, skills and competency required.
  • Clinical work, as assigned, at local hospitals, clinics, or other ย medical service providers for the purpose of developing and maintaining ย clinical skills and instructing and supervising students of the College ย in their clinical rotations.
  • Maintain a personal and professional development plan and ย portfolio, including documentation of teaching, professional development ย activities and plans, service provided to college and communities, ย scholarly activity and/or research to assure personal growth and ย continued competency with specialty field.
  • Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical ย behavior in all aspects of personal and professional actions and ย performance.
  • Demonstrate and role model an ongoing ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors and support staff.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and the willingness to assist the college ย in fulfilling its mission and vision through teaching, academic ย administrative duties (course/system coordinator), providing patient ย care, and community service and/or perform special duties as assigned.
  • Advance the prestige of ACHE through advancement of and avocation for its mission and vision.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chair or their designee.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALSย 


Education and Experienceย 


Minimum Qualificationsย 

  • Terminal degree (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) with current Board ย Certification/Board Eligibility in appropriate area of specialization ย if applicable.
  • Demonstrated leadership, productivity and administrative experience ย in a clinical, professional, research/scholarly activity or educational ย settings.
  • Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies.
  • Eligible for coverage by college's malpractice insurer if applicable.

Preferred Qualificationsย 

  • Board Certification/Board Eligibility by the American Osteopathic ย Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (AOBNMM) or have received a ย Certificate of Special Proficiency in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine ย (CSPOMM).
  • Graduate from an approved NMM/OMM program with AOBNMM/CSPOMM board certification.
  • Three years (3) academic experience as a full-time faculty member ย at a College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Allopathic Medicine, ย Academic Health Care Teaching Center or five years (5) experience as a ย full-time faculty member in a Graduate Medical Education Program.
  • Demonstrated leadership and productivity in the areas of clinical ย or professional service, scholarly activity, medical research or ย education.

ย Required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesย 

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the delivery of medical ย education in the classroom, laboratory, simulation and standardized ย laboratory settings and in clinical settings for students and residents.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of varied curriculum template and educational formats.
  • Demonstrate ability to mentor and motivate students and peers.
  • Demonstrate a depth of knowledge in one or more of the medical, ย psychological, or social disciplines required for the education of ย medical students, the practice of medicine, the advancement of medical ย knowledge and research.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, organizational skills, delegation skills, and time management skills.

  • May be required to transport oneself to other campus offices, ย conference rooms, and on occasion, to off-campus sites to attend ย meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.
  • May require significant travel or work away from campus.
  • Requires attendance at events representing ACHE both within as well as outside of the college setting.

  • Frequently required to see for purposes of reading matter.
