JOB SUMMARY: Metro Engineering Solutions, LLC ("MES") is looking for an Outside Plant Telecommunications planner with relevant Civil Drafter related experience to assist in route planning and plan production for OSP fiber infrastructure. Successful applicants will focus on route planning, plan production using AutoCad Civil 3D and permit acquisition from local municipalities. MES is a multifaceted utility design and engineering firm serving clients throughout the Midwest. OSP Planner must also support our core principles - understand and meet our clients everchanging needs, offer solutions to problems, meet deadlines, and have fun!


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the setup and preparation (AutoCad Civil 3D) of detailed project drawings during planning and design.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to provide drawings on schedule.
  • Select and interpret data on a map based platform such as Esri/Google Earth.
  • Meet design standards and specifications for local municipalities.
  • Understand/interpret utility records and Michigan's MISSDIG system.
  • Understand AutoCAD requirements needed for different clients as well as our firm.
  • Perform QA/QC on drawing files.
  • Coordinate project deadlines with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers.
  • Other duties as assigned by Project Manager.
  • Managing/documenting milestone execution on projects.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
  • Primarily work in an office setting.
  • Ability to travel and/or work in the field as needed.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in AutoCAD drafting or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of AutoCAD Civil experience.
  • MDOT and MicroStation experience a plus.
  • CATV/TELCO/UTILITY OSP planning/construction related experience and knowledge is preferred.
  • Excellent technical, written, and oral communication skills and familiarity of industry practices and regulations.
  • Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated problems solver with the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities.
