We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Orthodontic Assistant to join our friendly team and help make a positive impact on the lives of our patients.

Position Summary

The Orthodontic Assistant supports the orthodontist in all aspects of patient care, including clinical procedures, patient education, and treatment coordination. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for orthodontic procedures and ensure their comfort throughout treatment.
  • Assist the orthodontist during examinations and orthodontic procedures (e.g., placing and removing brackets, wires, retainers).
  • Take intraoral and extraoral photographs, impressions, and digital scans (e.g., iTero or similar).
  • Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment according to OSHA and practice standards.
  • Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient records using practice management software.
  • Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
  • Uphold strict infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.
  • Foster a friendly, positive atmosphere to ensure an exceptional patient experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Dental Assisting program or orthodontic assisting certification (if applicable).
  • X-ray certification (state-specific requirement).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in orthodontics or general dental assisting preferred.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Proficiency in digital imaging and orthodontic software (experience with [e.g., Dolphin, Ortho2, Cloud9] is a plus).
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
