Job description

We are a growing dental office focused on delivering exceptional orthodontic care in a supportive, patient-centered environment. We are seeking an experienced Lead Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our team and help lead the daily clinical operations of our orthodontic department.

The Lead Orthodontic Dental Assistant will support the orthodontist in providing high-quality patient care while serving as a clinical leader and resource for the orthodontic team. This individual will help maintain an efficient workflow, support team development, and ensure a positive experience for every patient.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures and treatment appointments.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to the orthodontic assisting team.
  • Help maintain efficient patient flow, operatory turnover, and overall clinic readiness.
  • Support the training and onboarding of new orthodontic team members.
  • Serve as a resource for team members regarding clinical procedures, workflows, and patient care.
  • Take dental impressions, digital scans, photographs, and orthodontic X-rays in compliance with state guidelines.
  • Place and remove orthodontic appliances under doctor supervision, including brackets, wires, and bands, as permitted by state regulations.
  • Adjust archwires and change elastics as directed by the orthodontist.
  • Educate patients and families on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment expectations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stocking of orthodontic and clinical supplies.
  • Ensure treatment rooms and instruments are properly prepared, sterilized, and maintained.
  • Help ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and other applicable safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the orthodontist and practice leadership to identify opportunities to improve clinical workflows and team efficiency.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment while providing exceptional customer service to patients and families.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of orthodontic dental assisting experience.
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and orthodontic assisting skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lead and support a team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to serve as a dependable clinical resource and role model for the orthodontic team.
 
$25 - $30 an hour
