Location: This position will be on-site full-time in Chicopee, MA. The position holder will need to be within commuting distance (within 45 min).

Summary:

The Site Controller is responsible for managing the finance and accounting operations of UFP Technologies, located in Chicopee, MA. This position leads the financial and accounting organizations, including general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, etc., and is responsible for managing the team so that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position is also responsible for inventory accounting, supporting the site on cost accounting, financial analysis, assisting with budgeting, forecasting and modeling financial performance. This position reports to the General Manager and dotted line to the VP Corporate Controller. The Site Controller collaborates with the siteโ€™s leadership teams and with the Corporate Financial organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains accounting system, ensuring the general ledger structure is adhered to consistently, all data is preserved, and all internal controls are in place.
  • Manages and supports all aspects of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including detailed account reconciliations.
  • Manages day-to-day activities of the financial and accounting team members in to ensure that each function is performed in a timely, accurate, and well-controlled manner. Provides adequate backup to maintain each functionโ€™s critical deadlines during planned and unplanned absences.
  • Manages the inventory accounting process, including supporting site with inventory / costing issues, and advising on proper procedures.
  • Oversees site banking function.
  • Supports site payroll function.
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources for continuous improvement in meeting critical deadlines accurately and timely.
  • Ensures compliance with financial internal controls as directed by Internal Audit.
  • Analyzes all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring their overall integrity and accuracy.
  • Analyzes operational performance and provides P&L financial analysis to help the site leader(s) assess, drive and achieve peak performance.
  • Provides on-demand financial and cost analysis to support decision making; explain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial variances.
  • Collaborates with operations management to forecast and model future operational performance.
  • Assists with the preparation of operating budgets, and the monitoring of variances and deficiencies.
  • Analyzes actual vs. standard material, labor and overhead for targeted SKUโ€™s / product categories.
  • Prepares monthly detailed reporting package for submission to Corporate Accounting.
  • Works closely with Corporate Accounting to ensure company-wide accounting and reporting policies are applied consistently in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Provides support to Corporate Accountant with the preparation of detailed schedules to support financial disclosures.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, and a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience in positions demonstrating progressive responsibility.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing personnel desired.
  • Manufacturing industry and inventory / cost accounting experience required.
  • Epicor ERP systems experience a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • Must be self-starter that can function independently with little direct supervision.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as a level-headed demeanor.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours a necessary, especially during the month-end closing process.
  • Must be able to work on-site 5 days a week at the Chicopee, MA facility.
