Job Summary

Rapid Fire is looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Installation Technician to support our Austin branch. The function of this position is to provide reliable, high quality customer support through on-site service, installation, inspection, repairing and/or replacement of fire alarm equipment. Ability to conduct preventive maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturers' equipment.


Responsibilities

  • Install, program, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 standards.
  • Test and inspect fire alarm systems to ensure they are in good working order and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on fire alarm systems, including testing, cleaning, and repairing components as needed.
  • Work closely with construction teams to integrate fire alarm systems into building designs.
  • Provide technical support and training to other team members on fire alarm systems.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest fire alarm technologies and safety regulations.

Qualification

  • 5+ years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician or a similar role in the construction industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of fire alarm systems, including Silent Knight, Fire-Lite.
  • Proficiency in NFPA 72 and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Strong skills in low voltage electrical wiring.
  • Experience with security and fire alarms installation, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • A commitment to safety and a keen eye for detail.
  • Relevant certification or licensure may be required.

Knowledge, Skill & Other Requirements

  • Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing, sitting, or walking
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Wear safety attire, such as goggles or other protective clothing as necessary
  • Could be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are uncomfortable and distracting
  • Requires the ability to raise, manipulate and maneuver tools, components and materials and handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc.
  • Work in high or elevated places and/or in tight spaces
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential requirements
  • Capable of working on Ladders, Aerial Lifts, and elevated Platforms
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems, components, controls, and their interdependencies including detectors, control panels, annunciators, and initiating devices
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and system logs to perform accurate repairs, installations, and system optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze system data, identify trends, and recommend improvements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, address concerns, and provide clear explanations of work performed
