About the Role

The Class A CDL Route Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery and recovery of materials across designated routes throughout Iowa. This role involves both local and regional driving, requiring strict adherence to all federal, state, and company transportation regulations.Drivers are expected to operate equipment safely and efficiently, complete pre- and post-trip inspections, and promptly report any mechanical or service issues. Strong communication with dispatch, customers, and internal teams is essential to ensure smooth operations and high customer satisfaction. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring focus, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of others.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL (Non-Excepted Interstate)
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) report
  • Age & Experience Requirements:
    • 23+ years old with 2+ years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience, or
    • 21+ years old with 1 year of experience and:
      • Graduation from a certified truck driving school, or
      • 1 year of equivalent military driving experience
  • Stable work history
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Physical Requirements

  • Lift, push, or pull up to 70 lbs frequently
  • Bend, stoop, twist, shovel, and reach overhead regularly
  • Tolerate exposure to strong odors (e.g., food waste, organic materials)
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions

Key Responsibilities

  • Load, transport, and recover organic waste materials
  • Operate combination vehicles, including open-top dump trailers
  • Drive manual and automatic transmissions in compliance with DOT regulations
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections
  • Use pallet jacks (manual/electric) as needed
  • Clean bins and containers using pressure washing equipment
  • Perform minor repairs on bins and equipment using basic hand tools
  • Maintain truck cleanliness and basic equipment upkeep
  • Utilize electronic logging devices (ELD) for DOT compliance
  • Accurately complete and submit required documentation (service tickets, logs, reports)
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Report service, equipment, safety, or customer issues promptly
  • Report all accidents and injuries immediately
  • Deliver loads to recycling facilities using end dump processes
  • Accurately calculate recovered weights across multiple stops
  • Attend safety meetings, trainings, and briefings
  • Use mobile devices and computers for communication, training, and reporting
  • Work flexible hours, including up to 60 hours in 7 days or 70 hours in 8 days (seasonal)
  • Be available for various route assignments, including interstate routes and occasional overnight travel
