Job Description:
The Oregon State Police in Salem, Oregon is hiring for one (1) Full-Time, Limited Duration Office Specialist 2 - Front Desk Reception - position expecting to end on or before 01/25/2027 but may be extended based upon operational needs. This is an in-office position without the opportunity for a hybrid or remote work schedule.

Summary of Job Duties:
In this position, you will support the department by providing centralized services to the public and department personnel stationed throughout the state, including General Headquarters (GHQ). In this position, you will be responsible for greeting visitors at the front reception, ensuring security protocols are met before granting access into the building, using a multi-line telephone system to field inquiries, and processing incoming mail and payments for services provided. Additionally, you will be responsible for inventorying and stocking the central supplies, distributing received shipments, and at times, provide clerical support to the other divisions of the department.
Minimum Qualifications/Eligibility Requirements:
Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents;
OR
An associate degree in any field;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals in, at times, challenging circumstances.
  • Experience receiving incoming mail and packages; determining appropriate distribution of received mail and packages.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as computer terminal or photocopier.
  • Experience receiving, screening, and routing telephone calls on a multiline telephone system.
  • Experience handling cash and other monetary transactions, ordering supplies, and monitoring inventory.
