Managing these challenges requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and familiarity with warehouse management systems. Staying physically fit and following safety protocols are also crucial, as the role typically involves repetitive lifting and extended periods of standing or walking. Collaborating with team members and supervisors for clear communication helps ensure orders are completed correctly and on time.

To thrive as an Order Selector, you need strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and basic math skills, typically with a high school diploma or equivalent. Dependability, teamwork, and time management are valuable soft skills that help ensure orders are picked accurately and efficiently. These skills are crucial for maintaining inventory accuracy, meeting shipping deadlines, and supporting overall warehouse productivity.

What is an order selector?

As an order selector, your responsibilities include sorting merchandise on shelves, pulling merchandise for specific requests, and stacking items onto pallets. Other job duties include tracking warehouse inventory, labeling pallets for shipment, and operating a pallet jack to move pallets to the loading dock. To become an order selector, you must be at least 18-years-old with a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowing how to operate a forklift or pallet jack is helpful, but most positions provide on-the-job training.
