Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluate, analyze, and recommend improvements to product design, maintenance, and operational performance.
  • Support the development of new products and drive performance enhancements and cost improvements.
  • Assess and recommend new materials to support product design changes.
  • Conduct technical analysis of competitive products, services, and patents.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for Tier 2 SMEs, providing advanced analysis and resolution of complex issues.
  • Comply with all NOV and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the COE Technical Leader.
FACILITY / GROUP RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide advanced technical product support to global SMEs delivering 24/7 support to internal and external customers.
  • Lead and support training and competency development programs for Tier 2 technicians and engineers.
  • Identify and analyze product reliability trends to inform performance improvements.
  • Deliver structured technical feedback to Product Engineering on product performance and reliability.
  • Review and support Product Notifications (PNs), including planning, implementation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Prepare technical reports with damage assessments and recommended corrective actions based on field data and customer reports.
  • Coordinate with internal and external specialists to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Maintain strong collaboration with Global Product Engineering and related teams.
  • Partner across business lines to deliver "Service Above All."
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Technical diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience (e.g., Field Service, Technical Support, Field Engineering, I&C, eHawk, AM Projects).
  • Strong technical analysis and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multinational teams and time zones.
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic drawings.
  • Capability to troubleshoot complex, cross-disciplinary technical issues.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Participate in customer meetings; assess technical issues, provide recommendations, and document outcomes.
  • Develop technical work scopes and recommend specialized tooling.
  • Review and optimize spare parts lists and inventory strategies.
  • Support FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests).
  • Contribute to training materials, competency frameworks, and assessments.
  • Evaluate new products, tools, and services and provide recommendations.
  • Support leadership in assessing team competency and assigning work based on complexity and urgency.
  • Act as backup for the COE Technical Leader when needed.
  • Generate and manage reports analyzing operational activities and performance.
  • Utilize systems such as Rig Office, Team Center, Glovia, Oracle, and PIMS.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and NOV quality management standards.
  • Apply root cause analysis methods (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) to troubleshoot failures.
  • Support remote upgrades and adhere to NOV best practices.
  • Understand NOV equipment taxonomy, failure modes, and diagnostic techniques.
