Job description

Summary

The Manager, Enterprise Systems leads the Information TechnologyServices team responsible for the design, delivery, and ongoingoperation of Midwestern University’s cloud enterprise systemsportfolio, including Oracle Fusion Cloud (HCM, ERP, EPM, FinancialAid, and Student) and the Jaggaer Procure2Pay system. The positionsupervises the functional analysts supporting each Oracle Fusionpillar and the technical analysts responsible for integrations,conversions, reporting, and custom development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership and Supervision
    • Supervise the functional analysts supporting the HCM,Finance/EPM, Financial Aid, and Student pillars and the technicalanalysts responsible for integrations, conversions, reporting, andcustom development
    • Assign work, set priorities, and manage the performance andprofessional development of direct reports, including hiring,onboarding, coaching, performance evaluation, and successionplanning
    • Balance team capacity across implementation projects, ancillarysystem remediation, and production support in coordination with theSenior Project Manager, Enterprise Systems
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, andcontinuous improvement within the ITS team supporting cloudenterprise systems
    • Build and maintain the team’s Oracle Fusion Cloud skill base,including Drivestream Academy participation, certification paths,and cross-training that reduces single points of knowledge
  • Solution Delivery and Technical Analysis
    • Direct the University’s functional and technical delivery workacross the Oracle Fusion pillars, including configuration,functional design, data conversion, integration development,reporting, and extensions
    • Review and approve technical designs, integrationspecifications, conversion mappings, and configuration decisionsfor adherence to institutional standards and to the targetarchitecture
    • Oversee the analysis and delivery of technical changes toancillary systems and integrations affected by the new GeneralLedger Chart of Accounts structure, including Epic, Jaggaer,Transact/IDX, and Vetspire, in support of project plans maintainedby the Senior Project Manager
    • Direct the team’s work on the University’s integration estate,ensuring that interfaces between cloud enterprise systems andclinical, academic, and auxiliary applications are documented,monitored, and maintainable
    • Ensure that unit, system, and user acceptance testing areexecuted with appropriate rigor and that defects are tracked toresolution
    • Establish and enforce standards for documentation, sourcecontrol, migration, and release management across theportfolio
  • Post-Implementation Operations and Optimization
    • Lead the transition from implementation to HyperCare and AMSfor each pillar, ensuring operational readiness, knowledge transferto the ITS team, and a clean hand-off of production supportresponsibilities
    • Manage the ongoing performance, reliability, and continuousoptimization of Oracle Fusion Cloud and other cloud enterprisesystems, including quarterly Oracle updates, AMS quarterlyoptimization visits, and planned enhancement cycles
    • Own production support for the cloud enterprise systemsportfolio, including incident response, root cause analysis,service level performance, and escalation to Oracle andDrivestream
    • Partner with the Enterprise Systems Architect, the FDIFunctional Owner, and the FDI Technical Owner to ensure that cloudplatform changes preserve data integrity, integration stability,and institutional reporting
    • Maintain a forward-looking technical roadmap of enhancements,optimization opportunities, and future cloud enterprise systemscapabilities aligned with Midwestern University’s strategic plan,and refer initiatives requiring project structure to the SeniorProject Manager, Enterprise Systems
  • Vendor and Partner Management
    • Manage the ongoing operational relationship with Drivestream,Inc. for Application Managed Services, including work intake,prioritization, quality, and consumption of AMS hours
    • Coordinate with Oracle Corporation through the Oracle CustomerSuccess Manager on platform matters, service requests, and releasereadiness
    • Coordinate ancillary vendor relationships that support thecloud enterprise systems portfolio, including integration partners,reporting and analytics vendors, and third-party serviceproviders
    • Monitor ongoing vendor performance against service-levelcommitments and contractual obligations, and recommend renewal,expansion, or remediation
  • Data Governance, Security, and Compliance
    • Partner with the Enterprise Systems Architect, InformationSecurity, and Institutional Research to implement and enforce datagovernance, access management, and audit practices across cloudenterprise systems
    • Own role design, segregation of duties, and periodic accessreview for the Oracle Fusion Cloud environment in partnership withthe functional pillar owners and Internal Audit
    • Ensure that cloud enterprise systems operations comply withapplicable regulatory, contractual, and institutional requirements,including FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, Title IV, and Midwestern UniversityIT and security standards
    • Support internal and external audit requests, includingevidence production and remediation of identified findings
  • Governance and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Participate in the Program Leadership Team and support theProgram Lead in the operation of the three-tier governanceframework, including the Executive Governance Committee, ProgramLeadership Team, and Pillar Working Groups
    • Collaborate with pillar executives, working group leads, andsubject matter experts to translate business priorities intoprioritized cloud enterprise systems work
    • Represent Midwestern University in HESS Collective workinggroup sessions, Oracle user groups, and other peer forums asappropriate
  • Budget, Procurement, and Contract Administration
    • Support the AVP of ITS Applications in the development,monitoring, and reforecasting of ongoing operating budgets forcloud enterprise systems
    • Coordinate procurement activities related to cloud enterprisesystems operations, including software subscriptions, managedservices, and integration tooling, in partnership with Universityprocurement and legal functions
Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in computer science,information technology, management information systems, or arelated field from an accredited institution. Master’s degreepreferred. Minimum of five to seven years of progressivelyresponsible experience in enterprise applications, including atleast two years directing functional and technical informationtechnology teams. Demonstrated responsibility for enterprise systemdelivery, integration development, production support operations,and managed services or vendor oversight is required. Experiencewith Oracle Fusion Cloud, Workday, or comparable enterprise cloudplatforms strongly preferred. Higher education experiencepreferred.

The individual must have the following skills:

  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and manage multidisciplinaryteams of functional and technical information technologyprofessionals in a complex, matrixed environment
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Fusion Cloud or comparableenterprise cloud platforms (e.g., Workday, Ellucian, Jaggaer),including familiarity with HCM, ERP, EPM, Financial Aid, andstudent system modules
  • Strong technical grounding in enterprise integration patterns,data conversion, reporting and analytics, and application securityadministration, with the ability to evaluate the work of technicalstaff on its merits
  • Experience managing production support operations, includingincident response, root cause analysis, release management, andservice level accountability
  • Experience managing managed services, software vendor, andintegration partner relationships against service-level commitmentsand contractual obligations
  • Knowledge of IT governance, data security, privacy, andcompliance standards, including FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and Title IVwhere applicable to cloud enterprise systems
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for executive andnon-technical audiences and to communicate operational risk clearlyand without alarm
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and facilitationskills, with the ability to build trust across executiveleadership, functional departments, and partner organizations
