Client is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to manage and maintain the central Oracle environment for the district. The resource must have experience with upgrading core versions of Oracle database and managing a highly available environment. This includes backup and restore, troubleshooting connectivity, performing failovers as planned or in support of unplanned activities, performing maintenance to include optimizing and tuning, reviewing memory, I/O, indexing, queries, access, tablespace, schemas. The resource must have experience with capacity planning, incident response and root cause analysis, and working with cross functional collaboration with teams (developers, architects, security) utilizing the environment.
CONTRACT JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities:
1. Plans, organizes, and implements projects in support of District's growing information demands.
2. Ensures the effective use of District resources.
3. Contributes to policies for effective process planning as it relates to new requirements.
4. Possesses expert knowledge of the Structured Query Language (SQL) environment with particular emphasis on planning, analysis, design and implementation of reports and report interfaces intended for the end user.
5. Participates in short-term tactical planning implementation.
6. Contributes to long-term strategic planning.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements:Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
Technical Skills:
Expertise with Oracle database architecture.
Expertise with Oracle 12c or higher.
Expertise with Oracle RMAN backup and recovery strategies.
Expertise with tuning Oracle databases (query/indexes/memory/IO/storage).
Expertise with Oracle RAC and highly available environments.
Expertise with Oracle database failovers.
Expertise writing complex SQL and functions, triggers and objects.
Expertise with troubleshooting Oracle databases.
Expertise with upgrading Oracle databases.
Expertise with security for Oracle databases.
Knowledge of operating Oracle databases in cloud environments such as Azure and AWS.
Knowledge of automation and DevOps for databases.
11-15 yrs. database design, documentation, and coding
