Radiologic Technologist - Computed Tomography

Location: Detroit, MI

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Radiologic Technologist specializes in performing computerized tomographic procedures. This role may also include general diagnostic radiology examinations and other related duties as required.

Essential Functions:

• Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the examination.

• Review clinical requisition data and perform appropriate examinations, obtaining necessary medical history information.

• Prepare the procedure room and regularly replenish supplies, including linen.

• Analyze patient anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform CT scans.

• Manually control equipment to ensure accurate diagnostic information is obtained.

• Administer intravenous contrast media, including the use of power injectors, and monitor patients for reactions, providing immediate care when necessary.

• Prepare and set up sterile equipment and ensure adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.

• Assist the Radiologist in complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.

• Adhere to radiation protection principles, employing shielding and appropriate equipment settings to minimize dose exposure.

• Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into the PACS.

• Complete study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS).

• Review and confirm clinical protocols with the Radiologist prior to examinations.

• Consistently demonstrate team member standards of excellence, including open communication and a positive attitude.

• Perform all necessary documentation in medical records and within the radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.
