Job description

About the Role

As a PRN Radiologic Technologist in the QMG Surgery Center, you will provide imaging support for surgical, diagnostic, and interventional procedures.

Working alongside surgeons, nurses, and other members of the perioperative team, you will operate a variety of imaging equipment while maintaining high standards for image quality, radiation safety, and patient care.

This role is ideal for a Radiologic Technologist who enjoys the variety and teamwork of a procedural environment and can adapt confidently to the imaging needs of different surgical specialties.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • PRN position with scheduling based on Surgery Center needs.
  • Fast-paced procedural environment supporting surgical cases, post-operative imaging, and Cath Lab procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate fixed, mobile, and mini C-arms, portable x-ray, cabinet x-ray, and other imaging equipment used during surgical and post-operative procedures.
  • Position patients and adjust equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while following radiation safety guidelines.
  • Accurately process, label, transmit, and archive radiographic images.
  • Maintain responsibility for imaging equipment, image quality, and radiation safety throughout procedures.
  • Document patient care, treatments, and interactions accurately within applicable electronic medical record and procedural systems.
  • Assist with preparation for surgical procedures, including Cath Lab procedures, as needed.
  • Function as a monitor during diagnostic and interventional Cath Lab procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the care team to support safe and efficient procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with radiation safety, infection prevention, and organizational standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Surgery Center operations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
  • Current ARRT certification required.
  • Current Illinois radiologic technologist accreditation/licensure required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Previous operating room, surgery center, Cath Lab, or procedural imaging experience preferred.
  • Experience operating C-arm and portable imaging equipment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of radiation safety, patient positioning, and imaging techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary surgical team.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and patient care skills.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $25.00 - $37.50 per hour, with actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials and other incentives.
