Warren County Water District is currently hiring for one full-time Operations Center employee. Applicants will be considered for placement in either the Operations Center Technician or Operations Center Specialist classification.
Placement into the appropriate classification will be determined during the selection process based on the applicant's relevant education, professional credentials, licensure, experience, demonstrated knowledge of water and wastewater operations, and other job-related qualifications.

Technician Summary/Objective:

To support efficient coordination of operations and maintenance of the water and wastewater systems. Maintain accurate documentation, while working effectively and efficiently, resulting in high morale and productivity.
Specialist Summary/objective:

To provide efficient coordination of operations and maintenance of the water and wastewater systems. Maintain accurate documentation, while working effectively and efficiently, resulting in high morale and productivity.

Technician Essential functions:

• Receives and responds to customer inquiries, complaints, or concerns regarding system operational conditions.
• Receives and appropriately processes utility locate requests from KY811 Before You Dig system.
• Monitors SCADA system. Dispatches appropriate personnel to investigate and respond when anomalies are identified.
• Assists in the coordination of unscheduled and emergency work with group supervisors and other outside personnel. Receives real-time updates and assists in the resolution of issues that may arise. Assists in appropriate allocation of resources.
• Acts as communication liaison with field personnel during emergencies.
• In coordination with supervisors, uses Cityworks CMMS and other systems to ensure efficient dispatch and completion of service requests/work orders. Initiates service requests and work orders as needed.
• Prepares and submits all required reports.
• Keeps general manager advised of any informalities internal or external along with any overall personnel and customer problems or other needs within the organization.
• Keeps familiar with Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) reporting on hazardous and toxic chemicals, found or used in the work area.
• Works according to safety standards and polices adopted by Warren County Water District, is responsible for his or her own safety, and reports all incidents to his or her supervisor.
• Complies with all local traffic laws, regulations, and safe practices while operating any company vehicle.
• Must be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification upon employment.

Specialist Essential functions:

• Remotely controls pump stations, lift stations, and other facilities as scheduled and/or requested to facilitate safe and efficient completion of work.
• Receives and appropriately processes utility locate requests from excavators.
• Assists in monitoring of water quality testing data. Ensures all operational and water quality reports are filed with the appropriate regulatory agency within required deadlines.
• Assists in the coordination of unscheduled and emergency work with group supervisors and other outside personnel. Receives real-time updates and assists in the resolution of issues that may arise. Assists in appropriate allocation of resources.

• Must have knowledge of various computer systems including but not limited to SCADA, Asset Management, CMMS, GIS, AVL, Microsoft 365, etc.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills.
• Must be able to triage issues and prioritize corrective actions.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, contractors, and the public.
• Apply confidentiality to all areas of sensitive employee and customer information.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under stress and remain calm during rapidly changing circumstances.

Reporting relationships:

• Reports to: Operations Center Supervisor

Work environment:

• Must be able to work a forty-hour week plus any extra time the position may demand, especially during emergency conditions. Some outside work may be required including training and coordination.

Physical demands:

Lifting up to 15 pounds may be required.

Travel required:
Some travel in and around the system may be required. Must be willing to attend courses related to work.

Technician Education and experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent.

Specialist Education and experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Class III Distribution and/or Collection Operators License desirable.
• Two years' experience in water/wastewater system operation and maintenance desirable.

Additional eligibility requirements:

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification upon employment.
