Position Summary
  • Cleaning patients' teeth and evaluating their oral hygiene.
  • Educating patients about oral hygiene.
  • Assure all needs are met relating to the provision of patient care in the hygiene clinic.
  • Provide patients with quality care and treatment in a manner that is comfortable for the patient.
  • Manage equipment and inventory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Removing plaque and calculus.
  • Polish patients' teeth.
  • Intra-extraoral screening.
  • Peridontal charting.
  • Taking, exposing and mounting radiographs.
  • Reviewing and updating patient health history.

Other:
  • Teaching appropriate brushing and flossing.
  • Administering local anesthesia.
  • Disinfecting operatories.
  • Checking stock, ordering supplies and restocking.
  • Applying sealants.
  • And anything else required or asked

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education -A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or 18 months to four years of work experience in a related field.
  • Employment -Up to six months (Equivalent combination of education and employment).

Preferred Qualifications
Competent computer skills using a PC and EHR.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Current knowledge of dental terminology, dental instruments, and materials.
Physical Requirements
Job requires repetitively lifting light weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities.
Work Environment
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Dental Hygiene License.
  • Local anesthesia license.
  • State of Michigan Radiology Certification or comparable.
  • BLS Certificate.
  • Glucometer trained, a plus.

Salary/Pay Information
Commensurate with experience
Anticipated Schedule
Monday to Friday - 8.00 AM to 5.00 PM
Additional Information
Qualified individual will have excellent patient service skills and the ability to work in a diverse team environment. This position is occasionally asked to assist in four-handed dental procedures.
