Job description
Private Practice. Advanced Technology. Exceptional Staff.
Eye Pieces is seeking a motivated, patient-focused Optometrist to join our growing private practice with locations in both Dallas and Plano, Texas. Whether you are a new graduate eager to develop your clinical skills or an experienced OD looking for a practice where you can thrive, we offer an environment that allows you to focus on what matters most—providing outstanding patient care.
Why Eye Pieces? In today's optometric landscape, many doctors find themselves working within corporate environments driven by production goals, restrictive protocols, and limited clinical autonomy.
At Eye Pieces, we believe optometry should be different.
As a privately owned practice for over 20+ years, we empower our doctors to practice at the highest level of their training and pursue clinical excellence without quotas, unnecessary time constraints, or corporate agendas. We value thorough patient care, long-term relationships, and continual professional growth.
Our philosophy is simple:
Provide exceptional eye care, offer superior products, and always put patients first.
A Practice Built for Clinical ExcellenceWe provide comprehensive eye care services that extend far beyond routine vision exams. Our doctors diagnose and manage ocular disease, co-manage surgical patients, provide emergency eye care, and utilize advanced technology to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Our offices are equipped with an impressive suite of diagnostic and treatment technologies, including:
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Widefield Retinal Imaging
- Anterior Segment Camera
- Virtual Visual Field Testing
- Pachymetry
- Digital Gonioscopy
- Specular Microscopy
- LipiScan
- LipiFlow Dry Eye Treatment
- IPL
- Tempsure RF Treatment
- Corneal Topography
- LifeMeter
This technology allows our doctors to confidently diagnose, monitor, and manage a wide range of ocular conditions while continuing to expand their clinical expertise.
Outstanding Support StaffOne of the most common compliments we hear from our patients and from our current associate doctors is how exceptional our team is.
Our experienced staff is highly trained, efficient, and genuinely passionate about patient care. They perform all pre-testing and work closely with our doctors to ensure each patient receives a seamless experience.
This support allows our optometrists to focus their time where it belongs:
Providing excellent care, educating patients, and building lasting doctor-patient relationships.
Two Unique and Vibrant Patient Populations Dallas LocationLocated in one of Dallas' most dynamic and energetic areas, this office serves a younger professional demographic primarily in their 20s through 40s. The practice has developed a strong reputation for specialty contact lens care and is the area's leading prescriber of daily contact lenses.
You'll enjoy working with engaged patients who value technology, preventative care, and premium vision solutions.
Plano LocationOur Plano office serves a thriving family-oriented community consisting largely of professionals and established households. Patients range primarily from their 30s through 50s and appreciate personalized care from providers they know and trust.
Together, both locations offer a diverse patient base and a rewarding blend of routine vision care, medical optometry, contact lenses, and disease management.
A Lifestyle You'll EnjoyBoth Dallas and Plano continue to rank among the most desirable places to live and work in Texas.
From award-winning restaurants, coffee shops, live music venues, and professional sports to excellent schools and growing business communities, you'll find no shortage of opportunities both professionally and personally.
The two offices are approximately 30 minutes apart, providing variety in your week while remaining easily accessible.
Quality-Focused Patient CareAt Eye Pieces, we believe exceptional patient care requires adequate time with every patient. Unlike many corporate settings that prioritize volume, our doctors are scheduled for comprehensive 30-minute examination appointments, allowing them to perform thorough evaluations, educate patients, and build meaningful doctor-patient relationships.
Our doctors typically see approximately 14–16 patients per day, creating a comfortable and sustainable pace that supports both clinical excellence and work-life balance.
Combined with our highly trained support staff handling all pre-testing, our doctors are able to focus their attention where it matters most—delivering outstanding patient care and practicing at the highest level of their profession.
Position Overview- Typical patient schedule: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Part-time position: 1-2 day per week in Dallas; 1 day per week in Plano
Training, mentorship, and shadowing opportunities are available for new graduates.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive eye examinations
- Diagnose and manage ocular disease
- Prescribe glasses and contact lenses
- Provide pre- and post-operative surgical care
- Educate patients on vision and ocular health
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Manage urgent and emergency eye care needs
- Collaborate with specialists and co-manage patient care when appropriate
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
- Active Texas Optometry License
- Glaucoma Certification required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong clinical judgment and professionalism
- Passion for patient-centered care
- New graduates and experienced ODs are encouraged to apply
Competitive compensation based on experience, including:
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Paid Holidays
- Licensing Fees Covered
- Malpractice Insurance Covered
- Production Bonuses
This position is ideal for an optometrist who:
- Wants the freedom to practice without corporate pressure, quotas, or production-driven mandates
- Values spending quality time with patients rather than being rushed through high-volume schedules
- Appreciates comprehensive 30-minute examination appointments and a manageable patient load of approximately 14–16 patients per day
- Enjoys utilizing advanced diagnostic technology to provide the highest level of care
- Has an interest in medical optometry, ocular disease management, dry eye treatment, and specialty contact lenses
- Is committed to continual learning and professional development
- Appreciates working alongside an exceptional support team that allows doctors to focus on patient care
- Values building long-term relationships with patients and becoming a trusted provider within the community
- Is looking for a long-term professional home within a respected and growing private practice
If you're looking for an opportunity to practice optometry the way it was meant to be practiced—with clinical autonomy, medical instrumentation, high-tech procedures, outstanding support, advanced technology, reasonable patient volumes, and a patient-first philosophy—we would love to meet you.
Apply today and discover why Eye Pieces is one of the most rewarding private practices in North Texas.
