Optometry Clinic Jobs in Oregon (NOW HIRING)

Salary Pay Range:$22.36/hr.-$29.00/hr.

Essential Functions:

• Provides assistance for the Optometry Clinic by courteously meeting and greeting individuals presenting themselves to the Optometry Clinic.
• Verifies eligibility, insurance, alternate resource eligibility, and coverage, by contacting patient insurance carrier.
• Accurately conveys patient insurance benefits regarding optical hardware
• Schedules optometry appointments using the NextGen scheduling system.
• Works closely with appropriate staff in the Business Office, to accurately and timely enter charges for all optical orders.
• Ensures collection of payment prior to ordering patients’ glasses or contact lenses; maintains optometry patient’s data integrity.
• Works with the Accounting Department to coordinate patient vendor payment activities.
• Accurately and timely compiles all lab fees and submits for payment
• Ensures the Optometry schedules are accurate.
• Records patient information regarding broken appointments and cancellations, along with maintaining a short call list of patients; manages fast call services.
• Provides secretarial/clerical support to the Optometrist.
• Prepare check requests and purchase orders.
• Maintains office supplies.
• Prepares correspondence, copying, faxing; takes and routes accurate telephone messages.
• Opens, routes, and distributes mail in accordance with established policies.
• Ensures patient confidentiality.
• Performs frame measurements, adjustments, and repairs necessary to assure glasses are cosmetically, physically, and optically optimum.
• Able to fill out prescription order forms/referral forms, verify prescriptions of contact lenses and glasses received from the optical laboratories. Places order for glasses and contact lenses with vender.
• Performs lensometry, auto-refraction, OCT/retina photography along with other optometry equipment as necessary.
• Teach patients the proper use and care of contact lenses and/or eyeglasses.
• Understand frame inventory, optical supplies/tools, and the billing process for services rendered.
• Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

• Requires a high School diploma or GED.
• Requires a minimum of six (6) months’ general training and skills in optometry clinic; one (1) year preferred.
• OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Driving Requirements:

• Employees may be required to drive for work-related purposes and must maintain a valid Oregon

Driver’s License (ODL), meet company vehicle insurance requirements, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

• Requires certification as Paraoptometric or Optician or within (6) months of employment.
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification
• Requires knowledge of fax machine, copy machine, Visa machine, 10 key, and multi-line telephones.
• Knowledge of NextGen EHR preferred.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

• Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
• Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
• Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
• Occasionally requires lifting of up to 20 pounds.
• This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.

• Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan. 

• Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
• May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
• Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
