We are seeking Optometric Technicians to support our multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Optometric Technician Responsibilities

(Under the supervision of a licensed optometrist.)

  • Prepare exam rooms and ensure all diagnostic equipment is clean, calibrated, and stocked.
  • Obtain and document patient histories, visualacuity results, and pretesting data in the EMR.
  • Perform routine pretests (autorefraction, keratometry, tonometry, slitlamp imaging, visual fields).
  • Assist the optometrist during examinations—position patients, handle lenses, and operate imaging devices.
  • Educate patients on eyewear care, contactlens use, and medication instructions.
  • Process and transmit prescriptions to pharmacies or optical dispensaries.
  • Manage inventory of lenses, frames, contacts, medications, and disposables.
  • Respond to patient calls, schedule followups, and address basic inquiries.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all legal/ethical standards.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., Optometric Assisting) preferred
  • Previous clinical experience in an eyecare or outpatient setting preferred
  • Current Optometric Technician/Optometric Assistant certification preferred, but not required
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with patients and other employees

Working Conditions and Physical Efforts:
