Job Summary

The Optometry Assistant plays a key role in supporting a seamless experience for patients by working closely with the Optometrist. The Assistant is the first person to engage patients and upkeep the back-end of the program. The Optometry Assistant is an important team player in this very unique practice environment that embodies the practice and techniques of integrated medicine, as well as Crossover Health's mission to deliver next generation care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Initiates the eye care experience by greeting patients warmly

  • Ensures patient history and pre-test data are collected for doctor prior to exam

  • Establishes efficient patient flow to minimize patient wait times

  • Oversees daily schedule to maximize appointment access

  • Ensures clinic areas and instrumentation meet quality compliance standards

  • Monitors contact lens trials, inventory and orders, to ensure timely delivery to patients

  • Manages insurance authorizations/billing and patient communication

  • Works with other medical providers to ensure a seamless patient experience

  • Committed to patient satisfaction, providing excellent service and delivering an outstanding eye care experience

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School graduate and/or completion of vocational training program in healthcare

  • Minimum 1 year of employment in customer service related position

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 Year Degree

  • Proven organizational skills, great interpersonal skills, and ability to work as a key team member

  • Willingness to work with constantly changing technologies

Physical Job Requirements

  • May require standing, walking and sitting for extended amounts of time.

  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination

  • Includes full range of body motion including potential of handling and lifting patients.

  • Requires corrected vision, hearing and speech within normal ranges. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients and team members.
