Optometrist

Professional Type: Optometrist (Allied) Specialty: Optometry Contract Type: Military Contract, Full time, 1-year contract Shift: MONDAY-FRIDAY 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM Rate: $70.31 - $73.00

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree: Doctor of Optometry.
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3):
  • Possess a certification to use Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents.
  • Education: Graduate from a school or college approved by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) of the American Optometric Association.
  • Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions.
  • Possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the preceding three (3) years as an Optometrist. Experience must include post-operative refractive surgery to include familiarity with Excimer laser, photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and Laser-Assisted in situ Keratomileusis (LASIK), patient selection, and co-management of refractive surgery patients.
  • Provide two (2) letters of recommendation written within the last two (2) years attesting to the HCW's clinical skills.
  • A minimum of one (1) of the letters must be from a supervisor. The other letter must be from either clinic or hospital administrators, or practicing physicians.
  • Reference letters shall attest to the quality and quantity of experience including, but not limited to, the communication skills between practitioner and patient and among peers, and must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as an optometrist.

Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: HCWs performing under this contract must be U.S. Citizens as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, U. S. Citizenship, and Immigration Services, either a noncitizen national of the United States, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or alien authorized to work in the United States.
