What does an optometric vision therapist do?

A typical day for an Optometric Vision Therapist involves evaluating patients’ visual abilities, implementing individualized therapy programs, and monitoring progress throughout sessions. You’ll often work closely with optometrists, other healthcare professionals, and the patients’ families to tailor treatment plans and adjust activities as needed. Most therapists spend their time in clinical settings, working one-on-one or in small groups, guiding patients—often children—through specific exercises aimed at improving visual function. Regular documentation and communication with the supervising optometrist are also important aspects of the role, ensuring coordinated and effective care for each patient.
