Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of tax compliance, reporting, and planning
for ON.energy and all its related entities. This role leads the tax function end-to-end - from federal and multi-state
filings to ITC monetization strategy - and directly supervises the Tax Analyst. The Tax Manager operates as a
strategic partner to the Tax Director, CFO, and Finance team, ensuring the company remains fully compliant while
optimizing tax positions across a growing portfolio of clean energy projects.

CORE RESPONSABILITIES

  • Manage all federal, state, and local tax compliance obligations across ON.energy and its related entities,
    including income, franchise, sales & use, property, and transaction privilege taxes, ensuring zero late filings.
  • Lead all 48E ITC workstreams, including safe harbor strategy, PWA and Domestic Content compliance, FEOC
    certification, and credit monetization via 6418 transfers.
  • Develop federal income tax projections and advise on structuring, planning, and M&A transactions; monitor
    legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop the Tax Analyst; build scalable processes and SOPs to support a growing
    portfolio.
  • Serve as the primary tax point of contact across Finance, Legal, and Project Development, and support the Tax
    Director with reporting, forecasting, and strategic presentations.
    Coordinate with external tax advisors and legal counsel on complex matters, audits, and tax opinions.

REQUIREMENTS 

  • 5+ years of tax experience; minimum 1 year in a manager or senior role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master's in Taxation or JD/LLM preferred.
  • Certification CPA or Enrolled Agent required (active license).
  • Direct experience with 48, 48E, 6418, PWA, and/or Domestic Content rules strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-state compliance including sales & use, property tax, and franchise taxes.
  • Proficiency in Excel (advanced); experience with tax compliance software and ERP systems.
  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior tax staff required
