Ophthalmic Technician - Ophthalmology
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 08:00-17:00
Weekend requirement: 1-2 Saturdays per month (rotation), Saturday shift 08:00-12:00
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of ophthalmic/related experience
- Ophthalmic Technician diploma from an accredited program
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
- Experience with Optos and Epic charting required
Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic and eye-function testing including visual acuity and refraction, intraocular pressure measurement, and visual fields testing.
- Assist with corneal topography, keratometry, A-scans, OCT, and fundus photography.
- Conduct Schirmer testing and patient preparation, including placing dilating drops.
- Assist ophthalmologists during exams and procedures.
- Order and dispense glasses and provide basic patient education.
Compliance / Notes
- Orientation: 80 hours required
- Must have active/valid license at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
- References: 2 references within the past year required (must be supervisor or higher)
- Return-staff policy: Previous permanent employees must meet separation requirements.
- Max 7 days of Requested Time Off (RTO); no RTO within the first 2 weeks of assignment.
