Ophthalmology Academic Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The George Washington University Capital Medical Group (formerly known as the GW Medical Faculty Associates) is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join a respected academic ophthalmology program in the heart of Washington, DC. This position offers a rare blend of high quality clinical care, cataract surgery, and hands on teaching within a thriving academic environment. Candidates will manage a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, provide essential comprehensive services and play a key role in educating residents and medical students.

Quick Facts

• Employment Type: Full-time (preferred); part-time, and per diem options available
• Schedule/Hours: 8 am-5 pm
• Call: Shared and well-paid
• Patient Volume: 30-40 patients daily (excluding surgery and admin time)
• Location: Washington, DC
• Practice Setting: George Washington Hospital and GW Capital Medical Group
• Support Team: Administrative Assistant, Ophthalmic Technician
• Academic Teaching Opportunity: Educate and mentor residents and students; potential leadership opportunities
• EMR: Epic

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive ophthalmology care including complex cataract surgeries to a diverse patient population
• Educate medical students and ophthalmology residents through didactics and clinical/surgical encounters
• Contribute to the coverage of the GW Hospital Emergency Department. This call is shared with the other members and paid per night.

• Salary: Competitive compensation in the $250K-$375K range RVU based system with an incentive bonus and separately paid call coverage

Required Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology
• Eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia
• While all qualified candidates will be considered, experience and interest in academic settings are preferred
