Logistics Operator Trainee
Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a day shift, Logistics Operator Trainee position. Job Summary:
Entry role focused on training and assisting higher level logistics operators. Primary focus on stockroom and material handling. Emphasis on learning and development.
Compensation: this position starts at $20/hour and is based on the candidate's experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Orientation to Fike's business system, forklift, entering data and hazardous materials handling.
  2. Pick customer orders in the stockroom.
  3. Performs light kitting in the stockroom and electronics production areas.
  4. Delivers product from receiving to the next point of use.
  5. Unloads package trucks in receiving.
  6. Counts product to support the cycle counting process and puts away product in the stockroom.
  7. Adheres to safety practices, 6S, and follows Fike policies, as well as ISO9001.
  8. Must be able to pass forklift certificate within 6 months of hire.

Subject Matter Exposure. Computer Understanding. Mechanical Aptitude. Housekeeping. Teamwork.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts.
Works in a temperature controlled environment and is occasionally exposed to outdoor environmental conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to push, pull, stretch, bend, kneel, and stoop. The employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and will occasionally climb stairs and ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to properly lift 50 lbs. and move up to 100 pounds or more using appropriate moving devices and may lift and carry up to 65 pounds, 60% or more of work time. Generally in a given week, will lift and package products:
  • Packages/Products weighing 0-20 pounds 65% of the time.
  • Packages/Products weighing 21-40 pounds 20% of the time.
  • Packages/Products weighing 41-65 pounds 10% of the time.
  • Packages/Products weighing 66 pounds or more 5% of the time and may utilize a lifting device as needed.

Job Qualifications:
REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and follow instructions. Must have basic math and computer skills and the ability to operate a forklift and basic hand-operated material handling equipment.
PREFERRED: Any experience in logistics
