JOB TITLE: SHIPPING/ RECEVING FORKLIFT OPERATOR
JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
This job requires the Forklift Operator to perform the following tasks:
  • To move product from the warehouse to trucks being loaded following the Pick List so that pulling in FIFO is maintained.
  • Perform trailer inspections and securing trucks prior to loading.
  • Use a scanner to complete loads, transfer product and split pallets.
  • Properly report and handle damaged product.
  • To perform general labor
  • To work in a safe manner
  • To take direction from the Warehouse Operations Supervisor or Shipping Lead Person to assure procedures are being followed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or lead person.
  • Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.
  • Perform trailer inspections and securing trucks prior to loading/unloading
  • Check/verify all product labels, names, and quantities received in from suppliers and provide the incoming documents to Inventory Clerk for receiving.
  • Unload/unpack materials and label prior to putting in storage.
  • Work well with team members to accurately place items in designated storage area in warehouses
  • Use handheld scanner to complete inventory moves
  • Move product from the trucks to the appropriate warehouse noting proper storage/temperature conditions as well as Allergen/Organic foods control.
  • Properly report and handle damaged product and or incoming materials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. 75% Moving product from the warehouse to trucks being loaded by using a pick list and using FIFO on dates the product was produced, ensures the dock locks are engaged before entering a truck, verifies the correct # of cases and pallets are loaded on the truck, knows the proper way to load a truck for equal weight distribution, after the truck is loaded secures the truck with one of two seals. (Bolt seal for GFA only) and the flat seal is for all others.
2. 15% To fill out all paperwork neatly and correctly, to fill out the loading log form verifying the correct product and ticket #'s were pulled and loaded on the truck. Fills out a trailer inspection form before loading a truck,
3. 10% Keeping the floors, racks and docks clear of debris (broken pallets, plastic wrap, paper and dirt etc.); also to keep the outside area clean.

Requires a high school diploma and basic math skills

Some previous work related skill, knowledge of how to operate forklift.

Requires good oral and written communication skills; must have the ability to work independently.
Technical and Analytical:
Must have good hand-eye coordination, must have the ability to perform required task, and be able to drive a fork lift.

Must be reliable, punctual and exercise good safety habits.
Physical Demands:
Requires walking, sitting, standing, the ability to bend, stoop and handle repetitive lifting, the ability to lift 50lbs on occasion and climbing up and down stairs.
Work Environment:
Exposed to extreme cold/hot temperatures, high noise levels, wet floors. This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
