Job description

Summary
Esposito Construction is seeking an experienced Paving Operator/Laborer to support our paving crews on projects throughout New Jersey. This role is responsible for operating asphalt paving equipment and supporting daily paving operations on roadways, parking lots, and site work projects. We are looking for a motivated, hands-on operator with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a proven track record working on paving crews.

  • Pay: Flexible, experience based - $25-$40/hour DOE

Responsibilities
  • Operate paving equipment such as pavers, rollers, skid steers, loaders, and other related machinery
  • Support asphalt paving operations including grading, prepping, placing, and compacting asphalt
  • Work closely with the paving foreman and crew to execute daily paving plans
  • Assist with site preparation, milling coordination, and cleanup as needed
  • Communicate with crew members and supervisors to maintain safe and efficient workflow
  • Help coordinate equipment and materials required for assigned work
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
  • Provide input for daily and weekly job reports
  • Adhere to project timelines and communicate delays or issues proactively
  • Maintain and contribute to a strong safety culture and follow all safety procedures

Qualifications
  • Prior experience operating paving equipment required (paver, roller, skid steer, loader, etc.)
  • Experience working on asphalt paving crews strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced field environment
  • Knowledge of asphalt placement, grading, and compaction practices
  • Physically capable of working on your feet and lifting/moving materials as needed
  • Valid driver's license preferred
  • OSHA 10 and/or 30 preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation and proper work boots
