JOB INFORMATION
• Job Title: Market Operator Staff
• Grade: Exempt 56
• Job Code: 127277
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for managing both load and generating assets to ensure OG&E customers are provided the most economical energy while meeting operation and reliability criteria under the operational authority of OG&E and the Transmission Operators.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
• General responsibilities with standardized processes. Works under limited supervision. Resolves routine questions and problems. Refers the more complex issues to higher levels. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job. Some latitude for deviation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Assists with maintaining DA Market and RTBM policies and procedures and ensure those policies and procedures are being followed.
• Provides reporting to settlements and management on market performance.
• Responsible for managing OG&E's real-time generation performance for NERC and the operations and reliability criteria of the Balancing Authority.
• Monitor results of DA Market and identify and correct any errors or omissions.
• Directs and ensures the generation fleet is properly responding to all market and reliability authority operating instructions, including the five-minute set point instructions as received from the SPP.
• Responsible for submission of all market offers and bids into the DA Market, Real-time Balancing Market (RTBM), and Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC) as applicable.
• Performs analysis utilizing the market software and electronic spreadsheets (e.g. Microsoft office tools, analytics software, etc.) to determine market position and other metrics.
• Evaluates generation assets for hourly RTBM offer updates.
• Performs duties focused on Day Ahead and Real-Time activities as follows:
• Responsible for communicating with the Regional Transmission Organization (RTO), OG&E Fuels, OG&E transmission operations, OG&E Power Supply and any other impacted groups regarding Day-Ahead (DA) Market activities.
• Coordinates Day Ahead and Real-Time activities with other team members to ensure any anticipated operational issues impacting the DA Market submissions are communicated in a timely manner.
• All other duties as assigned.
• May be assigned to perform job duties outside the normal responsibilities assigned to the role of the Market Operator.
• May serve in a relief capacity for Market Operators supporting the 24-hour day DART operator role on a rotational basis to fill in for dispatcher absences, and to assist coordinators and supervision as needed in training, analysis, process development, and plant communications.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's Degree And 2 year's experience in a related field (e.g. accounting, analytics, business administration, economics, energy (oil, natural gas, power, etc.), engineering, finance, heavy industry, information systems); Or
• Associate's Degree And 4 years of experience in a related field (e.g. accounting, analytics, business administration, economics, energy (oil, natural gas, power, etc.), engineering, finance, heavy industry, information systems); Or
• 6 years experience in Market Operations (to include Power Plant Control Room Operators who work directly with Market Ops)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Power Plant experience
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Office work using computers.
• Required to work non-standard work schedules.
