MV Transportation is the leading public transportation provider in North America. We seek a Special Projects Manager who can work with our Business Development (BD) team on Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) administration. This position is a member of MV's Source to Settle (S2S) team. This role serves as a liaison between S2S, maintenance, operations, business development, and any other key stakeholder organizations.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
DBE
  • Identify RFP DBE requirements and responsible for developing solicitation material and scopes of work/quote forms for individual sales projects
  • Defines functional and technical requirements
  • Performs solicitation, outreach, documentation of all DBE participation, GFE (Good Faith Efforts), and goal achievement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure successful collaboration
  • Maintain alignment of regulatory requirements

Category Manager
  • Lead cross-functional negotiating teams targeting key spend categories
  • Develop and implement commodity strategies and establish and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers to ensure successful implementation and support
  • Remain current with market trends through relationships with suppliers and market experts; identify and communicate new technologies and solutions to key problems in the assigned spend areas
  • Maintain a working knowledge of internal policies (e.g. Source to Settle, code of ethics) or procedures to ensure the behavior exhibited by the organization is with the highest level of integrity, honesty and transparency
  • Must have a proven execution of a customer service mindset where Excellence is the only acceptable outcome

  • Maintains internal and external deadlines (% on-time)
  • Ability to manage volume (% of work assigned)
  • Ability to achieve flawless execution on deliverables (% contribution/peer feedback)

Qualifications
Talent Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in public administration, supply chain, business administration, law, or a related field preferred
  • Strong communication skills, including high-level writing and editing skills, superb reading comprehension skill, the ability to speak publicly, and the ability to explain complex information
  • Ability to review, interpret, and explain legal contract requirements
  • Possess the drive to be successful in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Expert in multi-task computer operation in Microsoft Office, including expertise in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Teams
  • Must possess excellent proofreading and cross-referencing skills
  • Must be able to work outside standard business hours when the occasion arises
  • Impeccable organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work multiple new business projects simultaneously
  • Ability to develop reach out and work with stakeholders
  • Must be accountable
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a high level of professionalism, and the ability to establish effective working relationships with key business partners
  • Must be resourceful, ask questions, create solutions with a high attention to detail
  • Critical thinking skills are a must, as is creative problem solving, work independently and time management
  • Transportation sector experience preferred
