Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. This is a drug testing position. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN OFFICER POSITION.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.
or
Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes applying knowledge of standardized telecommunications concepts, principles, and practices regarding deployable computer/communications equipment and systems used to: plan and evaluate resources and support for deployments; ensure logistics support is available; assess the status and availability of deployable equipment; respond to changes; ensure that appropriate training is provided to employees; coordinate activities for deployments; resolve telecommunications problems; etc. Ability to resolve well-defined problems or questions by gathering and analyzing facts from a variety of sources, forming and communicating conclusions, and making recommendations for recurring and continuing assignments. Skill in weighing the impact of variables such as changes in electronic and other equipment characteristics, equipment availability, interoperability of components, and types of communications required.
Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-11 grade level or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1\. Knowledge of Airlift Control Flight/Global Mobility squadron plans, policies, and operations. Knowledge of Airlift Control Flight/Global Mobility squadron software programs.
2\. Knowledge of guidance governing wartime deployable airfield operations management. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
3\. Ability to resolve well-defined problems or questions by gathering and analyzing facts from a variety of sources, forming and communicating conclusions, and making recommendations for recurring and continuing assignments.
4\. Ability to formulate plans and policies, analyze, plan, and adjust work operations to meet program requirements.
5\. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
