Recycling Operations Manager - Metal Recycling - Base Salary to 145k/year - Attleboro, MA

  • Our client is seeking an experienced Recycling Operations Manager to oversee operational performance across multiple metal recycling facilities. This role is responsible for production, safety, quality, equipment, inventory, budgets, and profitability within high-volume scrap yard operations. The Recycling Operations Manager will work closely with Facility Managers and cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency, maintain strong environmental and safety compliance, and achieve production and financial targets across assigned locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for multiple metal recycling and scrap processing facilities.
  • Drive production volume, material quality, safety, operational efficiency, and profitability goals across assigned locations.
  • Partner with Commercial and Transportation teams to support material flow, purchasing, logistics, shipping, and production requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Oversee heavy equipment, preventive maintenance programs, equipment reliability, and capital improvement needs.
  • Ensure accurate inventory management, inventory controls, and adherence to established operational procedures.
  • Lead quality control efforts to ensure processed materials meet customer specifications.
  • Maintain Health & Safety, Environmental, EHS, and regulatory compliance across assigned facilities.
  • Analyze operational KPIs, production targets, costs, and facility performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage facilities within established operating and capital budgets.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage Facility Managers and production teams.
  • Partner with HR on staffing, performance management, and compliance with company policies.
  • Travel between assigned facilities and attend customer or company meetings as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in steel scrap, metal recycling operations, or adjacent industries.
  • Experience leading teams within industrial operations, recycling operations, scrap processing, metal processing, or similar environments.
  • Experience with scrap yard operations, production, heavy equipment, and equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience improving operational efficiency, safety, quality, or profitability.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Environmental, EHS, or HSE requirements within industrial operations.
  • Experience managing operating or capital budgets, production targets, inventory, and operational KPIs.
  • Experience working in an active metal recycling, scrap yard, recycling facility, or comparable industrial environment.
  • Ability to travel between assigned facilities and work flexible hours when needed.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between assigned facilities as required.
