Position Overview

Mamba Logistics is seeking a proactive, organized, and results-oriented Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day logistics operations and help ensure shipments, drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams are coordinated efficiently.

The Operations Manager will monitor operational workflows, support dispatch and logistics personnel, address service issues, track performance, and help improve processes across the organization. The ideal candidate has strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and logistics-coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities Daily Operations Management
  • Oversee daily transportation and logistics operations.
  • Monitor shipment activity from scheduling through delivery.
  • Ensure operational tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Coordinate with dispatchers, logistics coordinators, drivers, carriers, customers, and vendors.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Prioritize time-sensitive shipments and operational issues.
Team Leadership
  • Supervise and support logistics, dispatch, and administrative personnel.
  • Establish daily priorities and communicate operational expectations.
  • Monitor employee workloads and workflow efficiency.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new operations personnel.
  • Promote a professional, accountable, and collaborative work environment.
Dispatch & Transportation Coordination
  • Oversee dispatch and scheduling activities.
  • Monitor driver and carrier availability.
  • Review pickup and delivery schedules for potential conflicts.
  • Ensure dispatch personnel have accurate shipment information.
  • Assist with resolving delays, missed appointments, route changes, and other operational exceptions.
  • Escalate significant transportation or safety concerns appropriately.
Shipment Management
  • Monitor active shipments and delivery progress.
  • Review shipment status reports and exception notifications.
  • Coordinate responses to delayed or disrupted shipments.
  • Ensure customers receive appropriate operational updates.
  • Work with carriers and drivers to resolve routine service issues.
  • Track proof-of-delivery and required shipment documentation.
Customer Service & Account Support
  • Support the resolution of customer service issues.
  • Communicate with key customers regarding significant operational matters.
  • Coordinate internally to address recurring customer concerns.
  • Monitor service quality and customer-impacting issues.
  • Partner with customer-success or account-management personnel to improve service delivery.
Carrier & Vendor Management
  • Maintain professional relationships with transportation carriers and vendors.
  • Monitor carrier performance and service reliability.
  • Coordinate vendor scheduling and operational requirements.
  • Review recurring carrier issues and recommend improvements.Assist with evaluating operational service providers when requested.
Performance Management
  • Monitor operational KPIs such as on-time pickups, on-time deliveries, shipment exceptions, cancellations, and service issues.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operations reports.
  • Identify recurring operational trends.
  • Recommend process improvements based on operational data.
  • Monitor team productivity and workflow performance.
Process Improvement
  • Evaluate existing logistics workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement practical operational procedures.
  • Improve communication between dispatch, customer service, accounting, and logistics teams.
  • Help standardize scheduling, documentation, and exception-management processes.
  • Support technology and system improvements.
  • Maintain appropriate operational procedures and checklists.
Documentation & Compliance Support
  • Ensure operational records are maintained accurately.
  • Monitor required driver, carrier, shipment, and vendor documentation.
  • Support internal compliance processes.
  • Coordinate documentation required for audits or management reviews.
  • Escalate regulatory or compliance concerns to qualified personnel.
Financial & Administrative Coordination
  • Work with accounting regarding carrier invoices, shipment charges, and operational expenses.
  • Review operational information supporting billing when requested.
  • Monitor certain operating expenses and identify unusual variances.
  • Assist management with operational budgeting and planning.
  • Support administrative projects related to logistics operations.
Safety & Risk Awareness
  • Promote adherence to company safety procedures.
  • Escalate accidents, incidents, hazardous situations, or other safety concerns immediately.
  • Coordinate with appropriate personnel regarding transportation incidents.
  • Support operational procedures designed to reduce service and safety risks.
  • Do not independently make technical or regulatory determinations outside the manager's authority.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3โ€“5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, dispatch, supply chain, fleet operations, or a related field.
  • At least 1โ€“2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Workspace, and operational software.
  • Strong understanding of transportation and logistics workflows.
Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with freight brokerage, trucking, thirdโ€‘party logistics, distribution, or transportation operations.
  • Familiarity with transportation-management systems (TMS).
  • Experience with dispatch and fleet-management software.
  • Experience monitoring operational KPIs.
  • Experience managing drivers, dispatchers, coordinators, or carrier relationships.
  • Previous experience in a small or midsize logistics company.
