Job description

ANNOUNCEMENT & PURPOSE OF POSITION Crescent Hill at Hitchcock is hiring an Outdoor Operations Coordinator. This person will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of snow making and snow grooming, including the maintenance and repair of all required equipment and machinery, and the scheduling of all seasonal or permanent staff required to coordinate these tasks effectively. Also responsible for the coordination and scheduling of all seasonal or permanent staff required for ski lift operations.

Position responsibilities will include the hiring, training, and management of several seasonal staff. Off-season duties will include various activities and preparations related to the successful operations of Crescent Hill at Hitchcock and the larger operations of Hitchcock Nature Center. Work is performed under supervision of the Site Manager and Operations Supervisor and with limited supervision of the Executive Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Snow Sports Season Essential Functions Coordinates all aspects of snow making and grooming including operations, maintenance, and staff scheduling. Coordinates all aspects of business-hours ski lift operations while communicating and collaborating closely with Site Manager, Operations Supervisor, and Mechanical Operations and Maintenance Manager on ski lift maintenance activities. Interviews, hires, and trains all snowmaking and grooming staff with support from Site Manager and Operations Supervisor.

Providing feedback and support to all subordinate staff, including coaching, corrective action, and disciplinary measures. Respond quickly to all needs that arise and communicate effectively with the Site Manager and Operations Supervisor. Maintain strong communication and collaboration with all staff via in-person interactions, email, and/or department meetings.

Ensure that staff adhere to safety standards that are in-line with industry standards and productive for the unique circumstances of Crescent Hill at Hitchcock. In collaboration with Operations Supervisor, Site Manager, and Mechanical Operations and Maintenance Manager, work to resolve a variety of high-level issues while providing the best guest experience possible. In collaboration with Crescent Hill and other county staff, implement, maintain, and document a risk management plan in accordance with General Liability Insurance carrier and ANSI B.77 requirements

Year-Round Essential Functions Coordinate all snow-sports season start-up and shutdown activities for snowmaking, grooming, and lift operations. In collaboration with other staff, plan, execute, and document the inspection, maintenance, repairs, and improvements for area buildings, grounds, and various machinery and equipment. Operate pickups and trailers, skid steer, high lifts and other heavy machinery, and equipment as needed.

Assist with special events and programs as needed. Assist with a variety of land management activities under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor. Performs other duties as directed or as the situation dictates.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY General knowledge of assigned park's buildings and surrounding grounds. General knowledge of the security, rules, regulations, and procedures of the park. General knowledge of Federal, State and local laws pertaining to the department.

General knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work and related equipment operation. Skill in the use of the equipment and tools of the work. Skill in project management, customer service, and relationship building.

Ability to prepare plans and detailed reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, community boards and committees, contractors, department heads, elected officials, residents, vendors, and the general public. Must be able and willing to work flexible schedule to include early mornings, overnights, holidays, and weekends.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES Professional certification or Associate's degree in a maintenance related field or minimum two-years work experience in the ski, amusement, recreation, or maintenance related fields. Obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 6 months of hire. Valid driver's license required.
