Diesel Automotive Technician

Diesel Mechanic Job Responsibilities: 

  • Inspects and repairs vehicles with diesel engines
  • Interprets diagnostic test results accurately
  • Writes detailed inspection reports and repair plans
  • Collaborates with other diesel mechanics
  • Advises advisors & clients on repair options
  • Completes test drives to make sure the vehicle runs correctly
  • Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely
  • Follows all motor vehicle repair shop regulations and standards

Diesel Mechanic Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Works with clients and has strong customer service skills
  • Willing to work as a team and help trainees (if necessary) and has advanced leadership skills
  • Collaborates with other diesel mechanics and has strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates time management, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid Driver's License

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • An associate degree in diesel technology or completion of a traineeship is required
  • National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence certified diesel mechanics are preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic is required
