Job description

Job Description Summary
This position is available within the University of Maryland's Division of Information Technology (DIT).
The Division of Information Technology (DIT) is looking to hire an experienced professional for the Analyst position to provide a broad range of support to the Assistant Vice President, the Finance team, as well as the Division. This position will provide support with financial tracking as well as operational support within the division, including, but not limited to: creating and maintaining financial reports, budgeting, reconciliation, procurement/purchasing, leading the division on travel compliance and other activities related to the running of the operational and financial aspects of the division. Excellent attention to detail is essential. The Analyst will respond to various inquiries both external and internal to the organization and must have the ability to work well with all levels of staff, as well as be welcoming, forward-thinking, and self-motivated.
**This position is considered essential and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergency to help maintain the continuity of University services.**
**May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, or different shifts for extended periods.**
Physical Demands: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of professional budget, finance, or accounting experience.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and internal control practices.
Knowledge of budget functions including preparation, balancing, and internal control.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
Ability to acquire, apply and expand knowledge of the University's policies.

  • Experience using Concur and Workday.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting

Additional Information:
Please note that all positions within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) have an in person component with expected time in our College Park, MD location per week. Telework is not a guaranteed work arrangement.
