MRI Administrative Assistant Job Description


The High-risk Department-MRI Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the High-Risk Department with a focus specifically on MRI patients.


Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Front desk MRI check-in including updating personal history, collecting of co-payments

Reviewing MRI eligibility status with patients in person and via phone

Schedule and screen patients for MRI-safety

Maintain current knowledge of National and individual insurance guidelines for MRI

Answer phone calls from patients and doctors' offices

Assist with day ahead chart preparation for MRI patients including coding of visits

Maintain total confidentiality of personal and financial data

Implement office policies and procedures

Perform other duties as assigned


Additional Responsibilities and Duties

Prepare MRI eligibility, pre-authorization and referral paperwork with the use of software (Tennr)

Facilitate communication with patients via patient portal 


Skills and Qualifications

Associates degree

2+ years' experience in an administrative role at healthcare practice

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality

Professional and courteous

Strong organizational and leadership skills

Skill in using healthcare software and computer skills

Problem solving skills

Ability to communicate professionally with physicians, administrators, staff and patients


Performance Standards

High-Risk Administrative Assistants is expected to perform well in a team environment, also possessing the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The expectation is that the needs of the patient are always the priority. The ability to multitask and attention to detail is essential in this role. This position reports directly to the High-Risk Manager.

Hourly rate: $21-$23

Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm-this is a fully in office position
