Job description

Reporting to the Superintendent, Strategic Optimization (SO), you will be part of the Strategic Optimization Department. The SO Specialist supports the identification, structuring, delivery, and sustainment of site improvement initiatives that improve safety, reliability, cost, productivity, and operational performance. The role works directly with operating departments to turn opportunities into executable plans, align stakeholders, remove implementation barriers, and ensure benefits are measured and communicated clearly. They will ensure that the strategic goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and maintaining our respect for the environment. 

Continuous Improvement and Project Delivery 

  • Lead and support improvement initiatives that deliver measurable business value. 

  • Translate operational priorities into structured projects, action plans, and sustainable outcomes. 

  • Manage project risks, progress, governance, and value realization. Communicate progress to key stakeholders.  

  • Support performance management systems, KPI development, and continuous improvement practices. 

  • Analyze performance trends and metrics and translate them into insightful business opportunities.  

People & Capability Building 

  • Facilitate workshops, Idea Generating Sessions, and cross-functional problem-solving sessions. 

  • Build departmental capability to own and sustain continuous improvement efforts. 

Strategic Alignment  

  • Coordinate complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives requiring cross-functional alignment. 

  • Maintain visibility of priorities, milestones, benefits, and strategic roadmap progress. 

  • Develop and review business cases and their assumptions with initiative owners. 

  • Support the development and execution of departmental and site strategic objectives. 

  • Support operational readiness and change management during the implementation of new processes, technologies, and infrastructure.

  • Bachelor's or technical degree in the field of Engineering, Maintenance, Business, or related field is required.  

  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience, in a change management, continuous improvement or project coordinator role; 

  • Familiarity with data analysis and business case development; 

  • PMP designation is considered an asset; 

  • Experience working in a multicultural environment; 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;  

  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially PowerBi, Excel, & PowerPoint. 

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English. 

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: Multiple schedules are available for the position (7 days of work, followed by 7 days for transportation and rest or hybrid (1 week of work on site, followed by 1 week for transportation and rest, followed by two weeks of 5 days of work and 2 days of rest)).  

  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
