Quality Test Associate
Location: Richmond, VA (Onsite)

Your Impact
As a Quality Test Associate, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and performance of Accelevation’s UL 891 switchboards and power distribution equipment before shipment to customers. You will perform detailed mechanical inspections, electrical testing, and compliance verification to ensure products meet design requirements, applicable industry standards, and customer expectations.
Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams, you will help identify non-conformances, validate corrective actions, maintain testing documentation, and contribute to a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspections of switchboard assemblies, including component placement, clearances, enclosure integrity, grounding, bonding, torque verification, structural alignment, and overall workmanship
  • Verify compliance with UL 891 construction requirements, design specifications, and customer requirements
  • Conduct electrical testing using specialized test equipment, including:
  • Hi-Pot (dielectric withstand) testing
  • Insulation resistance (Megger) testing
  • Continuity testing
  • Grounding and bonding resistance testing
  • Functional testing of breakers, controls, bus systems, and protective devices
  • Execute factory acceptance tests (FAT) and production-line testing activities
  • Utilize multimeters, torque wrenches, Hi-Pot testers, continuity testers, insulation resistance meters, and other specialized testing equipment
  • Verify wiring accuracy, circuit integrity, and electrical performance of completed assemblies
  • Identify, document, and report quality issues, defects, and non-conformances
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to validate rework and corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate test records, checklists, certifications, and quality documentation
  • Support customer witness testing, UL inspections, audits, and compliance activities
  • Ensure all testing activities are performed in compliance with electrical safety requirements and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Assist in training new employees on testing procedures, quality standards, and safe work practices
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, testing effectiveness, and operational excellence
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred
  • Experience working with electrical testing, quality assurance, manufacturing, or power distribution equipment preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and specifications
  • Knowledge of electrical testing principles and equipment
  • Understanding of UL 891, NEC, IEEE, or related electrical standards preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to accurately document test results and quality findings
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic documentation systems

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Employees must be able to communicate effectively and work safely around energized electrical equipment and manufacturing operations. This role is performed primarily in a manufacturing and testing environment and requires frequent interaction with electrical assemblies, power distribution equipment, and testing instruments.
Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and frequent use of hands while operating testing equipment and performing inspections. Employees may occasionally lift materials, components, or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The work environment includes moderate industrial noise levels and exposure to electrical equipment and manufacturing operations. Required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, arc-flash PPE, and other safety equipment, must be worn as applicable. Strict adherence to electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and quality standards is required.
