Responsibilities:

In support of the Consolidated Nuclear Security (CNS) requirement to certify that the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) is fully ready for safe and compliant operations, BGS provides readiness support services to the UPF Readiness Assist Team, which is part of the CNS Readiness Assurance organization. BGS provides subject matter experts (SME) in key functional areas, including Conduct of Operations, Training and Qualifications, Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS), Nuclear Safety, Industrial Safety, Radiological Safety, Fire Protection, Maintenance, Pre-Operational Testing, Design Engineering, Safeguards & Security, etc. The readiness support services are needed to support the UPF Readiness Review activities managed by the UPF Readiness Assurance organization. BGS SMEs provide support to the UPF Readiness Manager and staff in the planning and execution of the operational readiness activities needed to complete the certification of operational readiness for UPF.

Provides highly specialized guidance and in-depth experience and knowledge of engineering, management, scientific, or environmental technical issues, as well as methodologies required for analyzing complex projects. This person must be capable of providing very high-level expertise in providing functional and technical support to top-level management. Work activities must include the integration of the best industry practices and risk reduction in implementing new technologies, methods, and processes. Must possess job knowledge and skills that enable identification, evaluation, and control of complex engineering, management, scientific, or environmental issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • SME I – 15 years of experience.
  • SME II – 20 years of experience.
  • Must be US citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and badge.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience supporting startup/commissioning of nuclear facilities, activities, or operations.

Location/Work Arrangement:

  • This position is located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and may include a Hybrid Work Arrangement with some teleworking. Must be able to perform work on-site when needed.
  • Schedule is full-time, Monday – Friday 40-hour week.
