Job description

Trinity Industries/RSI Logistics is seeking a Logistics Rate Administrator to manage the relationship between our clients and the Company located in our Okemos, MI Office.
The Logistics Rate Administrator is a supply chain operations specialist responsible for managing rail rate procurement, resolving freight billing issues, and maintaining strong relationships with both clients and rail carriers. Operating within a (3PL) environment, this role ensures timely and accurate rate responses, supports contract renewals, and facilitates smooth operational execution across our clients' rail network.
Primary Responsibilities:
Customer Rate Request Management
  • Handle high volumes of customer rate requests across various lanes and service types.
  • Provide timely and accurate rate responses aligned with carrier capabilities and client expectations.

Freight Invoice Reconciliation
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in freight invoices, including rate mismatches, accessorial charges, and billing errors.
  • Liaise with carriers and internal billing teams to ensure accurate and timely resolution.
  • Support audit processes and maintain documentation for dispute resolution.

Tariff & Contract Rate Administration
  • Manage renewals and updates of railroad tariffs and private contract rates.
  • Ensure rate agreements are current, compliant, and properly implemented in internal systems.
  • Track expiration dates and proactively initiate renewal discussions with carriers.

Carrier & Client Relationship Management
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Class I and shortline railroads, intermodal providers, and key clients.
  • Serve as a liaison between carriers and customers to resolve service or rate-related issues.
  • Support strategic discussions with carriers to improve service offerings and pricing structures.

Operational Support & Execution
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure rate structures support operational plans and customer requirements.
  • Assist in onboarding new lanes and customers by coordinating rate setup and carrier engagement.
  • Monitor service performance and escalate issues as needed.

What you will need:
  • High School Diploma plus 2-4 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort with numbers
  • Above-average skills in analyzing large datasets, identifying trends, and drawing actionable conclusions
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation abilities
  • Team player mentality with the initiative to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
