Surgical Scheduler-Operating Room (OR)
Location: Saratoga Hospital, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
Employment Type: Full Time
Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday
8:00 am - 4:30 pm
9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Department: Operating Room
Salary Range: $19.00 - $25.60/ hour based on verified education and experience

About the Role
We're looking for a dedicated Surgical Scheduler-OR to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, the Surgical Scheduler performs administrative duties under the direction of the physician. Duties include coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures and follow-up appointments. Works with office and clinical staff to coordinate scheduling of patients. Obtains insurance pre-authorization and pre-surgical clearance. Additional administrative duties may include maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes.
What You'll Do
  • Coordinates the scheduling of all surgical services cases including GI, ASU, PACU, MS, OR, C-sections, and some radiology procedures in a timely, accurate, polite and efficient manner.
  • Consults with unit manager or Charge RN and anesthesia concerning case times and changes in the schedule, including "add-ons" and delays, and all scheduling and equipment problems, also assistant conflicts. Actively involved with appropriate case orders for best outcome per physician and operating room staff.
  • Informs all appropriate departments and staff of changes in the schedule to maintain flow of the schedule.
  • Maintains up-to-date surgical schedules and posts in the office.
  • Transmits faxes and distributes surgical schedule by 12:30pm daily to the appropriate destinations.
  • Maintains accurate computer log of all surgical cases along with nurse's notes for Operating Room
    cases.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all admit types and surgical procedures.
  • Orders office supplies as necessary; maintains an adequate amount of surgical paperwork packs.

What You Bring
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience using computer scheduling programs and entering patient demographics
  • At least 1 year in a medical office required
  • Previous scheduling or OR scheduling preferred
