  • Licensure: Active New York (NY) State RN License in hand at the exact time of submission.

Job Summary

Seeking a highly specialized, autonomous Vascular Operating Room RN for a 9-week specialty assignment. This role requires an advanced surgical nurse who can independently manage complex endovascular and open vascular cases. You must be completely proficient in circulating these high-acuity procedures without relying on assistance from a cardiac cath lab team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Endovascular Autonomy: Circulate and support complex endovascular procedures, including EVAR, TEVAR, atherectomies, and carotid stenting, independently navigating the Hybrid OR environment.
  • Open Vascular Management: Manage standard open vascular interventions such as Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA), femoral-popliteal bypass grafts, and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repairs.
  • 1:1 Patient Care: Deliver continuous, dedicated intraoperative monitoring, aligning with a strict 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio.
  • Safety & Radiation Protocols: Enforce the Universal Protocol (Time Out), oversee precise surgical specimen handling, maintain strict infection control boundaries, and champion radiation safety workflows during fluoroscopy.
  • Advanced Equipment Operation: Proficiently manage specialized intraoperative systems including the Cell Saver autologous blood recovery system and electrosurgical units (ESU).
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of total RN experience is required.
    • Strongly preferred: 2–3 years of dedicated Vascular/CVOR experience.
    • First-Time Travelers: Accepted, provided they possess extensive, verifiable staff experience in high-volume vascular surgery.
  • Preferred Background: Experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center, and familiarity with Hybrid OR settings.
On-Call & Weekend Mandate

This specialty assignment requires a rigorous, mandatory on-call footprint to support urgent or emergent vascular cases:

  • Weekday Call: 1 shift per week (typically overnight coverage).
  • Weekend Call: 1 full weekend per month (Friday through Sunday rotation).
