Job description

TEKsystems has a client that is seeking a Server Engineer to help protect, modernize, and ensure the operational stability of their hybrid server infrastructure. This role is primarily responsible for security/permission and vulnerability remediation within a large-scale server estate spanning Windows and Unix/Linux platforms.

You will partner closely with infrastructure, cybersecurity, vulnerability management, application, cloud, and program teams to ensure our server platforms remain secure, resilient, compliant, and highly available in an increasingly complex threat landscape.

This position requires a blend of deep technical expertise, security-minded engineering, strategic thinking, and hands-on operational experience.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise server infrastructure.

• Expertise in Microsoft Windows Server administration and engineering.

• Strong experience with Unix/Linux platforms, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, AIX, Solaris, or similar enterprise operating systems.

• Demonstrated experience with vulnerability remediation programs in large enterprise environments.

• Experience working with vulnerability management platforms such as Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, or similar tools.

• Strong understanding of operating system security hardening and secure configuration practices.

• Experience with patch management, server lifecycle management, and change management processes.

• Hands-on scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or equivalent automation technologies.

• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Incident, Problem & Risk Management

• Provide technical assistance during major incidents and critical outages.

• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures to reduce recurring issues.

• Evaluate infrastructure risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

• Participate in on-call support and escalation activities as required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
