Overhead Door Technician – Commercial Overhead Door and Dock Installation and Repair


Job Overview

The Opportunity

You will drive the critical execution of commercial door installations and automated dock systems across diverse environments. This role grants you the autonomy to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems while expanding your technical expertise. How You Will Make an Impact

  • Install and service sectional, rolling steel, and high-speed commercial overhead door systems.
  • Maintain complex dock levelers, gate operating systems, and industrial operable partitions.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical system errors directly on customer job sites.
  • Interpret architectural blueprints, electrical schematics, and detailed wiring diagrams safely.
  • Operate heavy machinery including forklifts, industrial scissor lifts, and site telehandlers.
  • Secure industrial hoists and specialized slings using proper structural lifting techniques.
  • Represent the company brand professionally through punctual, solution-oriented client interactions.
  • Follow all OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience in mechanical, electrical, or construction trades.
  • Proven ability to analyze industrial blueprints, circuit schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior operational experience handling scissor lifts, forklifts, or similar field equipment.
  • Capability to obtain “For Hire” Driver’s License endorsement, OSHA 30 and ARSC Certifications within 60 days of hire.
  • Must be insurable under the company’s insurance program plus have a valid driver’s license with a strong driving record. 
  • Required DOT physical and drug screening, with ongoing compliance


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Dedicated technical experience with commercial overhead door installation and structural service.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to work at heights, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions. 
  • Practical knowledge of ARC/MIG welding, metal fabrication, and structural alignment.
  • Familiarity with PLC systems, ladder logic programming, and relay logic circuits.
  • Hands-on experience working around 3-phase 480V industrial electrical systems.
