Job Summary

Your role as a Surgical Support Technician is crucial for smooth operations in surgery rooms. Prepare spaces before surgeries, manage turnover after, and ensure necessary supplies are available. Inventory upkeep and non-medical aid are important for a well-organized surgical environment.

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Clean surfaces and equipment in OR. Decontaminate after surgery and as needed by team. Dispose of hospital waste safely.
  • Part of your job is transporting patients, lab samples, and supplies. This involves executing different tasks.
  • You will manage inventory by monitoring levels, restocking supplies, and ordering as needed. It is crucial to maintain supplies in different areas.
  • Checking supplies for surgeries is important. You audit case carts based on doctor's preferences and restock as needed.
  • Clinicians are supported inside and outside the operating room. You will open sterile supplies for procedures under the clinician's supervision.
  • Surgical prep involves more than supplies. It includes checking instrument sets and selecting supplies for cases. Flash sterilization tests are also done.
  • You will react to emergencies. Follow procedures and guidelines in place. Complete on-call duties quickly. Act as surgical team resource.
  • Staff hired before September 1, 2009, as surgical support techs may hold retractors during surgery. No program completion required.

  • Preference will be given to applicants with past experience in a healthcare-related field.
  • Familiarity with basic office equipment and computer systems is necessary.
  • Proven capability to effectively multitask and autonomously solve problems is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • EXPERIENCE - Less than (1) one Year of Experience
  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain within (30) thirty days of hire or transfer.
