Job description

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential  opportunity for a civilian Registered Nurse -  Operating Room  at Nellis Air Force Base, in Las Vegas Nevada. This contract position offers:

Position Highlights:

  • Employee status and access to a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, and, Vision, 401(K), PTO and Sick time
  • Schedule - 40 hours weekly  (30 minute) lunch

  • Duty Hours: Monday-Friday - Shifts will be assigned within the operating hours of 0645 to 1915 to meet variable surgical caseloads and unit needs.

Education and Experience:

The Operating Room Registered Nurse will have the following requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen, or lawful permanent resident, or alien authorized to work in the US
  • Shall have and maintain a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Shall hold and maintain (ACLS) or (ALS), (BLS), (CPR), and (PLS), Certifications must be through American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines.
  • Shall have completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university; National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience is mandatory in operating room assignments. Experience

General Knowledge:

  • Provides professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgery. Prepares and maintains operating room for all surgical procedures.
  • Establishes and utilizes a checklist to monitor the physical plan of the operating room and equipment for conformity to all national standards for ensuring safety for the patient and all personnel.
  • Assembles the type and quantity of material and special equipment needed for daily procedures and possible emergencies.
  • Coordinates an ongoing, in-service education program to continually update knowledge and skills of all assigned operating room nursing personnel.
  • Observe, identify, and respond to the patient’s needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education.
  • Provides perioperative nursing care, for all types of patients admitted to the surgical suite for surgical intervention. Includes elective, urgent and emergency procedures on patients of all ages.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for all patients including newborns, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly; disabled to include visually and hearing impaired; and individuals of varying ethnic, and religious backgrounds to include those who do not speak or understand English.
  • Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use to include knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’s condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.
