Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dynamic surgical team within a level-one trauma center. The Main Operating Room is a busy and fast-paced environment, providing care across various surgical specialties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize critical skills in both scrub and circulating roles during surgical procedures.
  • Ensure high standards of patient care in a Magnet designated department.
  • Collaborate effectively within a nursing team consisting of registered nurses and certified surgical technologists.
  • Handle a diverse range of surgical specialties, including trauma, transplant, orthopedics, neurology, ENT, GU-GYN, and robotics.
  • Meet facility needs which may require floating within scope to different units as necessary.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Operating Room setting is strongly preferred.
  • Current RN license from South Carolina or a Multi-State/Compact RN license is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is needed.
  • Experience in trauma care is preferred.
  • Prior scrub experience is highly desired.
Shift Information

The position requires working three 12-hour mid shifts, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 PM. Weekend on-call shifts may be required, with options for both daytime and nighttime slots.

Holidays

Candidates must be available to work at least one of the designated holiday periods, including:

  • Christmas: December 24 – December 26
  • New Years: December 31 – January 1
Additional Information

Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all staff members may be assigned to emergency response teams. The hurricane season runs from June through November, with peak activity typically occurring in August and September.

All required parking permits must be obtained through the parking management office, and a registration fee applies for a parking hang tag.

The facility uses the EPIC electronic health record system for patient documentation.
