Travel RN opportunity in the operating room in Falls Church, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. Join a high-acuity surgical team providing perioperative care for adult and pediatric patients in a busy, 24/7 OR environment.

  • Position: Registered Nurse โ€“ Operating Room (Travel RN)
  • Location: Falls Church, Virginia
  • Region: Northern Virginia / Washington, D.C. area
  • Employment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
  • Contract Duration: 16 weeks
  • Start Date: September 21, 2026
  • Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Shift Length: 8-hour shifts
  • Shift Schedule: Day shifts with varying start patterns; 2x8s (0700โ€“1530) and 2x12s (0700โ€“1930), with occasional night rotation as needed
  • Weekend Commitment: 2โ€“3 weekends per 6-week schedule period
  • Call Requirement: 5โ€“6 four-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule, including weekday and weekend coverage
  • Holiday Coverage: 1 major and 1 minor holiday as needed
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,320โ€“$2,450
  • EMR: Epic
  • Setting: Busy operating room with urgent and scheduled surgical cases
Registered Nurse Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of operating room nursing experience
  • Level I or Level II trauma experience required
  • Travel nursing experience required; must have completed at least 1โ€“2 travel assignments
  • Strong confidence working in a team-based perioperative environment
  • Ability to adapt to varying day shifts, call coverage, and rotating unit needs
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
  • Neonatal and pediatric OR experience preferred
  • Trauma OR experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced operating room setting
  • Support a diverse surgical case mix, including orthopedics, general surgery, robotics, organ transplants, ENT, oral/maxillofacial, vascular/thoracic, urology, and pediatric cases
  • Assist with urgent and scheduled procedures, including weekend coverage
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the perioperative team to ensure safe patient care
  • Respond to call coverage needs and assist with rotating night coverage when required
  • Float as needed to related OR locations based on census and operational needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation and workflow within the Epic electronic medical record system
  • Contribute to an efficient, patient-centered surgical environment across a 24/7 service line
